Why are "jumpers" and "arm floats" dangerous?
Each year, thousands of families suffer from pool-related tragedies that involve drownings of young children. To help prevent these tragedies, The American Academy of Pediatrics advises parents to "avoid inflatable swimming aids such as arm floats."
Parents need to know there are dangers and risks involved:
- Those devices give children and parents a false sense of security. They feel safe in water without knowing how to swim...and this can lead to accidents.
